Situation
Our client was a large and successful company in the financial services sector. The organization was in a unique situation whereby the company, under new leadership, had pursued a direction that had not yielded anticipated results. The organization aimed to make an Initial Public Offering (IPO) and thus was in need of a plan to make them as attractive as possible to potential investors. It also aspired to expand their services and products into other areas of the financial services sector.
Challenges
The main challenges we faced on this project included:
- Addressing the uncertainty on how to implement a new strategic direction
- Dealing with an impending IPO that made it necessary to appear to be in the process of improving results
- Addressing the need to expand market channels and deal with potential multi-channel conflicts by having less of a reliance on brokers
- Deciding on major operational changes, for example, the client had historically maintained a legacy-based information system, and now required a more customer-driven orientation
Actions
To address these challenges, our consultants:
- Identified key strengths and opportunities to take advantage of
- Helped the group identify their objectives and goals and in determining the direction and focus of the changes needed for the implementation of the strategy
- Assisted in the development of implementation projects that addressed all forward-looking concerns
- Brought in good models and frameworks, and the focus and expertise that the client needed
Results
At the conclusion of the project all the key success factors had been achieved, and the client was highly satisfied with the project deliverables and the value added by Schroeder & Schroeder Inc. Our actions resulted in:
- An effective strategy implementation plan
- A successful IPO for the company
